Welcome to the Furry-Paws Art Fight!
The premise and participation of the Fight is fairly simple and straightforward, but there can be some details that are confusing for new players. In order to answer as many questions as possible this is an all inclusive, detailed guide intended for New Players, or returning Players who want a refresher. To make the guide easier to follow it will be supplemented at parts by images and some videos. If you still require help please contact a staff member as they’d be more than happy to help answer your questions.
What is Art Fight?
Art Fight is an annual event where Furry-Paws artists come together and join one of two teams, to 'attack' each other with gifted art of their characters. So Brutal, right? Teams earn points for every art piece they create, anything from custom tags, large arts, animations, written stories, and more! The aim of this event is to create community, share your art with friends, or even strangers, improve, and most importantly have fun. The artistic ideas will all be up to you! Will you join a team this year?
While the fight is scheduled for a full month, there is never any "quota" that needs to be completed during that time. While some users get super competitive and love to make a lot of attacks, if you only have time one or two, that's okay! Do what you can and just have fun! Artists of ALL skill levels are encouraged and welcome to join.

Getting Started
If you understand the rules and the premise of the fight interests you, then the next step is to sign-up. You’ll need to visit the Furry-Paws Topic, go to the ‘sign me up!’ section. Read through that section, copy and paste the form and post it in the comments. By submitting the form to the furry-paws topic you’re expressing interest in participating. If you change your mind please contact staff to remove yourself from the fight.
On the Sign-up form is a section for a character site.
You can use any folder/website as long as you’re only providing a single link to access your characters. Many users have used Sta.sh, Weebly/Wix or other websites, Sonagrova, Toyhou.se, or even image sharing sites like jumpshare or imgur. If using a site like Toyhou.se keep in mind if your settings restrict access to those logged in then you limit the users who would be able to attack you, so you may consider changing those settings for the duration of the fight. (not required, just recommended). You also have an option to link to a more specific wishlist. All wishlist preferences get added to a google sheet accessible during the fight to make it easy for your rivals to see your characters and make art that you’d prefer.

Proboards
Once you’ve been signed up for the fight via Furry-Paws it’s time to get your account set up on our Proboards forums.
In order to keep all information together and not flood the Art Nook boards, we use this proboards site instead. It is managed, and monitored by our Staff Team and abides by the same TOS rules as Furry-Paws itself.

Posting on the Forums
Learning how to post on the forums for the first time can be a bit tricky but these explanations should help make it more simple.
If you'd like to create a topic you can do so in the Limbo, or Discussions Boards. Simple Click the "Create Thread" button in the upper right and you'll be taken to the advance post edit screen.
It's important to note this forum uses BBCode, not HTML like Furry-Paws. You don't need to know BBCode though as the forum offers a easy to use post preview screen.
When posting a reply to a topic you have two options, you can either post in the reply box at the bottom of the topic, and click the "Post Quick Reply" button OR you can click the button that says "Reply" in the top right of that topic or box and be taken to the advance editing screen.
When creating a thread or clicking the reply button you'll see the screen below. This has standard text options such as font, size, colour, bold, italics, and underline, center text, make a divider, etc. It also has option to create links (the earth), post images (photo), and tag users (@person).
Tagging users is important, especially when posting attacks. when you @ a user, it appears in their forum notifications so they know they've been attacked.

While we also have our Furry-Paws Topic and Discord, we will share all fight related information on the proboards. No official information will be shared exclusively on the other platforms so don’t worry if you’d use them. We are a very active community on Discord though, so feel free to join if you wish, as we do have private team chats available as channels. We hope to keep the Furry-Paws challenge active as well so we may post some features of amazing work being done there during the fight.
How to Participate
Participating in the fight is fairly straightforward. Draw art for the other team, earn points, get attacked back. That being said, it can be a very intimidating experience your first time around, so this section will walk you through step by step to ease any anxieties and answer any questions. Make sure to ask lots of questions to staff if you still require assistance.
Find out your Team
The day prior to the fight you'll receive your team assignments. It's important to know what team you're on, so you know who you're against! There's two main places you can see your team, one on the forums, and one if you're part of our discord.
After teams are revealed, On the forums, simply go to the top toolbar, click 'Profile' and you'll see your team!
If you're on our discord server you'll be given a team role. This will change the colour of your name, and is visible on your role list. Simple click your name either from chat or the sidebar and look for your team in your roles list.

Pick a Victim
Now that you know what team you're on, and the fight has started, you need to pick someone to attack! Wishlists can be viewed either via the link on the Rules & Information topic, or simply by clicking the link that says "Wishlists" in the top Navigation bar.
This list is split into two halves, top half in yellow is team "Ancient" and the bottom half in purple is everyone on team "Modern". Teams also have letter's on the far left column "T" for Time and "S" for Space.
Look through the list of users on the other team, If you're Time, look through Space Players. Team Space? Look through the Time players. On the wish lists you can see someone's character site, art/writing preferences, and a link to a person wishlist if they have one! (Use Scroll Bars to view all sections)
Visit Character Sites, read wishlists, look around and select the user you want to attack! Today we're acting as a 'Halos' member and will be attacking "Fishy Beefsteak". I've chosen to draw their Fursona, so here's their character, and the artwork I drew of them.
After completing your artwork be sure to upload it somewhere online via an image host. Any image host works, Deviantart, Sta.sh, imgbb, imgur, even discord works.
Calculating Points
Part of submitting an attack is calculating how much it's worth. We make it easy with a fancy spreadsheet calculator. Simply check off boxes, pick the option that's correct for your art, and you'll be given a point total.
The calculator can be accessed from the navigation bar link, Rules and Information, or on the first page of the battlefield topics. The Calculator is on a google sheet, and you do NOT need a google account to use it. Since multiple users may be using the calculator at the same time, feel free to use any of the 'copy' tabs so user's aren't messing with each other.
Have a google account? Feel free to make a copy of the calculator so you never have to share! Simply go to File >> Make a Copy and you'll have an exact copy added to your google drive.
All point totals get double checked by Mods, so we will fix any mistakes you make.
*When 2023 Calculator is Updated, Term Guide will be in the Comments of this thread*
Submitting an Attack
When you've finished your art, and calculated the points, now it's time to submit it!
You'll need to visit "The Battlefield" topics, and go to the one for your team. 'Ascend to the Heavens' for Team Halo, 'Enter the depths of Hell' for Team Horns!
On each topic is a form that you'll submit. Simply Copy, and paste into a reply. I suggest clicking the 'Reply' button for the advanced menu, rather than using the Quick Reply.
Name - Self Explanatory, Should be the name same as your Forum Account.
Victim - Will be a @ that tags the user. Use the human @ symbol to find the correct tag.
Attack - Here's where you post the art/writing. Either use a link or post the image (Please link Larger Files)
Points - put the # of Points your attack is worth based on the calculator covered above.
Challenge Complete - If you did the current challenge you'll get bonus points added (done on the mod end). Please put 'Yes' AND name the challenge you completed. Either by name or number.
Notes - For a personal message to the recipient or to the Mods doing point calculations.
Simple hit Send 'Create Post' and post your attack!
Receiving Attacks
When someone attacks you, you'll receive a notification on the forums due to the tag. A little tag that looks like this!
Visit your profile, and go to the Notifications Tab. You can then see which user tagged you, and tags in the Battlegrounds will typically be attacks on you! (Which means free art!). You can click the link to the Battlegrounds and be taken to the specific post in which you were tagged.
You can like this post, message the user, or look for their Art Dump to thank them!
